Buenos Aires, December 13 (NA) – Atlético Rafaela will host San Martín de Formosa this Sunday in a second leg match for the second promotion spot from the Federal A to the Primera Nacional. The match, to be held at the Nuevo Monumental Stadium and covered by the Argentine News Agency, is scheduled for 18:30 and can be watched on DSports. The appointed referee was Marcos Liuzzi. Atlético Rafaela reached this stage thanks to its strong performances in the Revalida, as it defeated Guillermo Brown 3-1 on aggregate in the quarter-finals, while in the semi-finals it had no trouble overcoming Douglas Haig 4-2. Previously, the Santa Fe team had lost in the first promotion final to Ciudad de Bolívar, which won 5-4 on penalties after a 0-0 draw in regular time. San Martín de Formosa, for its part, had to take a slightly longer path to reach this final, as it started in the third round of the Revalida playoffs, equivalent to the round of 16. Its victims in the three playoff stages it played were Costa Brava from General Pico, Atenas from Río Cuarto, and 9 de Julio from Rafaela, with aggregate scores of 3-2, 4-1, and 5-3, respectively. Atlético Rafaela, which played several seasons in the Primera División in recent years, wants to return to the Primera Nacional after the tough relegation it suffered last year. San Martín de Formosa, for its part, wants to be promoted to the Primera Nacional for the first time in its history, which would by far be the best moment in its history since it was founded in 1941. The first leg went to Atlético Rafaela, which won 1-0 away, so the Formosa team will need to win by at least one goal to force a penalty shootout.
